With the introduction of Chapter 4 comes a large number of exciting new weapons and the return of a few old ones:
New: Ex-Caliber Rifle, Maven Auto Shotgun, Red-Eye Assault Rifle, Shockwave Hammer, Tactical Pistol, Thunder Shotgun, Twin Mag SMG
Old: DMR, Mechanical Explosive Bow, Mechanical Shockwave Bow, Rocket Launcher
In this analysis we will evaluate all the currently available weapons to determine which is best! We will do so by using basic data visualization techniques and a newly derived metric called "Time to Kill" - the amount of time in seconds that a particular weapon is able to down an opponent (assuming all rounds land).
Using this metric we will do the following:
- Stack rank the efficacy of all weapons
- Compare long range weapons
- Compare short range weapons
- Compare specialty weapons

1. All Weapon Ranking
Overall: The Twin Mag SMG has established itself as a formidable close range weapon option. Ranking ahead of all other weapons in its ability to down opponents in the shortest amount of time
2. Long Range Weapon Comparison
Long Range: The new Assault Rifle (AR) and returning DMR are virtually identical in terms of Time to Kill (TtK) and can be used largely interchangeably. Players should consider which gun they are more accurate with when considering which to play with. Some thing else to keep in mind is that the DMR offers a bit more range but a slower traveling bullet, while the Red-Eye offers faster bullet travel but a narrower smaller reticle target.
3. Short Range Weapon Comparison
Short Range: The Tactical Pistol and Twin Mag SMG offer significantly quicker TtK’s than the more conventional shotgun. However, if you must have a shotgun the Maven is ~26% more effective when comparing tier to tier compared to the rival Thunder shotgun.
4. Specialty Weapon Comparison
Specialty Weapons: The new Hammer is a useful mobility option and has some potential as a weapon. For these reasons, carrying it should be a strong consideration for players. When considering other weapons, rocket launchers and bows are considerably effective at range for destroying cover and should be deployed primarily for such activities. In larger group matches these weapons in unison can rain down considerably damage. Finally, when considering the Ex-Caliber rifle, spend your time elsewhere.
